Building of Public Interest -
Commissioned in the 18th century by the Colonel of the Militias Manuel José Gomes da Costa, the first husband of D. Maria da Paz de Bivar, it is the finest example of the neoclassic architecture in the Algarve.

The Bivar coat of arms stands atop the stairs leading to the main floor; the painting was made by Dr. Justino de Bivar Weinholtz.
The building occupies the corner of Conselheiro Bivar and 1º de Maio streets and also the side street - Travessa dos Arcos.
Presently the building is still inhabited by their descendants being a part of it leased to commerce.

On the 1st floor, the stonework mouldings are surmounted by a triangular pediment, and have balconette windows with wrought-iron railings. In the centre, there is a monumental doorway crowned by a large window.
